walk with experience

The Team

My name is Carol, I am the founder of Camino Confidence and Camino Guide. I have recently moved back t o live in the UK after 20 years in Spain.   I live next door to my sister and just down the road from my mum with my 3 Spanish rescue dogs and two cheeky cats.  I enjoy reading, crafting, walking, cuddling up with my girls and I am currently writing my first novel

As a mature woman I have experienced plenty of ups and downs, good and bad.  I know exactly how it feels to lose self confidence and allow anxiety to take over.  It so easy to lose sight of who we are over the years and push our dreams into a small place at the back of our agenda.

So that is why I created Camino Confidence and my mission is to help you to restore your confidence, and give you the tools to realize your dream of walking the Camino.

My first Camino was way back in 2003 and I was so utterly overwhelmed with the whole experience, it was without doubt the best time of my life.

My name is Monica. In 2016 an old roommate and my best friend from the U.S., Lorraine Miller, asked for my help teaching Spanish to a group of Americans in the middle of Asturias. It was like a dream, walking and talking in Spanish with a group of folks willing to learn about not only the language, but also about Spanish culture. The best job ever! I thought, and then there she was: the owner of the company that runs several tours a year on the Camino….
According to her, I was Galician, a people-person, and my English was good enough to work for her. Plus my Galician was excellent, LOL! I could not believe that something like that was happening to me! I would be showing my backyard Galicia to people who come from all over the world? Is this real?
So, there I was, being trained on the Camino by wonderful guides who taught me that guiding was not only about legends, maps, books, or knowledge but taking care of pilgrims.
This is how my adventure as a guide on the Camino started and I am blessed.

My name is Linda, I live in the UK but come from the Norwegian city of Trondheim, a popular pilgrim destination since medieval times. The idea of long-distance walking and pilgrimage routes has always appealed to me, so when I heard about the Camino, I was hooked.

I first set foot on the Camino in 2009,  on the short Inglés to see if I was cut out for walking with a backpack – and I loved it! Then in 2012 I  set out from St Jean Pied de Port on the Francés. And I took my time – I took 42 days and don’t regret a single one! The camino needs to be enjoyed, not rushed – sometimes your thoughts need time to catch up with you.

In 2014 I went back to Astorga, and I have been on one camino or other at least once a year since.

In 2019 I was lucky enough to join the fabulous Colleen Sims on her very first Camino Taster guided group walk from Pamplona to Logroño, to help in any way I could and to see if it was something I could imagine doing. We had a wonderful time, and when the week was over, I was sad to leave the group behind and continue on my own. So, when Colleen told me that Carol was looking for a guide for a Slow Stroll on the Inglés, I jumped at the chance. I enjoy a gentle pace to smell the roses and enjoy the moment rather than rushing to Santiago, and I look forward to meeting new pilgrims and introducing them to the camino that has given me so much.
