The lush countryside the wooded pathways the historical buildings and quaint churches and chapels will , without fail,  fill you with joy and happiness as you enjoy our slow stroll.

Pilgrims walk the Camino for many different reasons be it to reconnect with the church, search for a spiritual experience, walk in someones memory, search for answers take time to reflect or simply for the fitness benefits. Whatever your reasons, it will definitely challenge you both physically and mentally.  We have walked with women who have experienced the death of a loved one, a devastating divorce, loss of their roles due to children leaving home but also women looking for adventure, excited about discovering Spain and the Camino, determined to make the most of this exciting time of life.

Our groups of no more than 8 women come together from all over the world with one common goal to follow their dream to experience the Camino.  Over 11 days, with an average daily walking distance a manageable 11km or 6 miles you will walk the final 126 kms on our Camino Confidence Slow Stroll , all the while experiencing a roller coaster of emotions including: hilarity, happiness, joy, excitement, trepedation discomfort and even sadness but with the added support of a circle of like-minded women who will share these moments with you and encourage you to keep going. Finally but not least you will experience walking into Santiago, mingling with other pilgrims and sharing your joy and tears and your lives will truly never be the same again.

We openly encourage you to enjoy every moment of your Camino, whether you walk with the other members of the group or choose to walk alone and meet up with the group in the evening.  It is important to us that you walk your camino your way,  see the camino through your own eyes, but all the while aware that your luggage is being transported, your accommodation is booked and there is a guide to help you.

Our guides will share wonderful stories with you about the Camino, its rich history and fascinating legends to  help you to fully immerse yourself in this wonderful experience.

As Founder and Guide at Camino Confidence, I am so proud of the women in these groups. It gives my guides and I great pleasure to see them come together in the WhatsApp group, helping each other, booking activities together, often even arranging to travel together to and from the start and finish point.  We observe as their confidence grows every day as they become a unit often becoming such good friends that many come back to walk with Camino Confidence time and time again.  For a full itinerary please contact me Carol Alexander-Price by email.

Vigo to Santiago taster via the Spiritual Variant one the Camino Portuguese

Are you ready to experience this wonderful route on the Spanish side of the Camino Portuguese.  This 110 km route (plus a 36 km boat ride into Padron) is stunning, you will be walking along some of the most breathtaking coastline in Northern Spain before heading inland to join the stone and water route through the tranquil Spiritual Varient (Variante Espiritual).

This route is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Galicia and promises some incredible views but don´t be fooled, the hilly terrain does involve some challenges and some extra effort from you (and plenty of photograph stops).  Still, imagine how proud you will feel as you walk into Santiago and claim your well-deserved Compostela.

This alternative route is called the Spiritual Variant because it follows the final part of the long journey of the remains of Apostle St James hence why the boat ride from Vilanova de Arousa to Pontecesures is such an important part of this pilgrimage.

This offers you a unique pilgrim experience that few choose to do, but even less regret doing it.  We look forward to you joining us for what will be an unforgettable experience.

The south section of cami cavalls on the island of menorca

Feel like an alternative to the Camino?

Join me for this guided 90-km/ 56-mile slow stroll along the stunning Southern coastline of the island of Menorca.

Menorca is the third largest island in the Balearic archipelago after Mallorca and Ibiza.  It is a small piece of unspoiled paradise.

This walk will take you along some of the most breathtaking white sandy beaches, private rocky calas with crystal clear turquoise waters and of course the stunning green forest and the islands luscious pastures dotted with inquisitive Menorcan sheep.

For those history buffs out there, Menorca is steeped in history, its bronze age past is still evident with its famous Talyot sites and we mustn´t forget the incredible Isabel II Mola fortress which was built built in the 19th century to keep the British at bay. This imposing fort located at the entrance of the port is a must see. You can do a self-guided tour with audio in English. A possible activity for one of our afternoons here.

Menorca also has one of the longest natural harbors in the world. It is 5 kilometers (3 miles) long and is lined with a wide variety of buzzing international restaurants and Cafes to suit everyone’s taste. I challenge you to walk the whole length and back.

Finally, I will regale you with some of the most amazing myths and legends that have been passed down from generation to generation.  You won´t believe it.

Those of you who know me, know that I love slow strolls.  I just think that if you are going to travel halfway across the world to somewhere you have never visited before then you have to make the most of it.  Take photos, chill on the beach, visit historical sites, soak up the atmosphere and really enjoy being in nature.

*The price of this trip is based on double occupancy in a twin en-suite room. Single occupancy is available but will cost more and is subject to availability.

Price : €1850.00 (for an additional fee of €429.00 and subject to availability, single occupancy is available)

➜Menorca is famous for its gin xoriguer which is often paired with lemon during fiesta time to produce the refreshing drink ´pomada´ but beware, it has a sting.

➜The highest point is Mont Toro which is 358m (1,175 ft) above sea level (we will be able to visit Mont Toro)

➜ Mayonnaise originated here (another great legend)

➜The island has more beaches than Mallorca and Ibiza together

➜It is only 48km (30 miles) long and 16km (10 miles wide)

our route

Day 1  Arrive into Mahon airport and take the transfer to Ciutadella

Ciutadella has an incredible vibe, and is quite honestly one of my favourite cities in the world. We can enjoy meandering through the narrow cobbled streets of the old town, taking in the beautiful Menorcan architecture and sophisticated boutiques and art stores and hang out in one of its many bustling cafés people watching and soaking up the laid back atmosphere.

Day 2  Cap d’Artrux Distance 13km approx ( 8 miles) Difficulty easy Estimated walking 4 hours

Today, we will walk through the old town of Ciutadella, on a flat and slightly rugged path along the coastline of low sea cliffs to Cap Artrutx. This is one of the most beautiful places around Ciutadella.  The Artrutx lighthouse enjoys the most spectacular views across the Mediterranean.

Once here we will be collected at a time that suits us and return to our 4-star hotel in Ciutadella where we can simply relax or enjoy one of numerous other activities.

Day 3   Son Saura Distance 8 km approx (5 miles) Difficulty level medium Estimated walking 3 hours

Along this stage our path will take us alongside some incredible, virgin stretches of beaches of white sand and turquoise waters. We will pass several important urbanisations, including Cala en Bosc where I lived for a while as a Sovereign Concierge. We can discover some bunkers built by the Republican forces during the Civil War before finally arriving at what is regarded as a favourite beach by many, Son Saura.  We will then be collected by our trsansfer back to enjoy our last night in Ciutadella and get our bags prepared to be transported to our next hotel.

Day 4   Cala Galdana  Distance 10 km approx ( 6.2 miles) Difficulty level medium Estimated walking 3.5 hours

Today we will be dropped off by our transport and will make our way to another stunning resort called Cala Galdana. If we are feeling up to it, we can wander a little inland to see the remains of the Talaia dÁrtrutx, a circular defensive tower built in 1617 to protect Cala en Turqueta when it suffered from raids carried out by Turkish Pirates.

Day 5   Sant Tomàs Distance 12 km approx(7.5 miles) Difficulty level medium Estimated walking 3 hours

I´m actually running out of adjectives for these small resorts. Santo Tomas is another wonderfully tasteful resort and we will be staying here for three nights in a beautiful 4-star hotel. There are watersports available here if you fancy an active afternoon.

Day 6  Sant Tomas  Son Bou Distance 7 km approx (4.5 miles) Difficulty level Medium Estimated walking 2.45 hours

Voted the most stunning beach on the island, it seems to go on forever.  This is a small laid-back resort but a favourite among many visitors to the island.

Day 7  Son Bou   Cala en Porter Distance 9 km approx (5 miles) 3 .5 hours Difficulty level medium Estimated walking 3 hours

Cala en Porter is a slightly busier resort and is a favourite among many ex-pats who choose to live here.  It boasts a number of excellent restaurants and tasteful shops.

Day 8   Binibèquer Distance 13 km approx(8.2 miles) Difficulty level medium Estimated walking 3.5 hours

The tiny man-made village of Binibèquer is so incredibly low key and beautiful.  We will take some time at the end of our walk today to wander around this quaint village and maybe even enjoy a tasty lunch before being taken back to hotel in Sant Tomas

Day 9 Binibèquer  Punta Prima- Distance 6 km approx (4 miles) Difficulty level medium Estimated walking 2.5 hours

Punta Prima boasts another sensational beach with crystal clear water, soft fine white sand all under the eyes of an ancient lighthouse.

Day 10 Punta Prima  Mao Distance 12 km approx (7.5 miles) Difficulty level medium Estimated walking 3.2 hours

Finally, today we will walk into the Capital city of Mahon for our last evening together before either making our way home or spending some additional days here to explore more of this enchanting island or maybe even venturing to Ibiza or Mallorca on the ferry.

HOW TO GET TO MAHON (MAO)

You can fly directly  into mahon airport via Barcelona and Madrid(Mao).  Most flights from other countries will change in Spain.  Menorca is a small island so the main airlines that fly onto the island will be Spanish ones such as Iberia and Vueling. I would recommend using omio.com or some thind similar to plan your travel.

There is only one airport on the island
